The Delhi High Court has ordered the suspension of District Judge Sanjeev Kumar Singh, following adverse reports concerning his conduct. The decision was taken during a full court meeting of the High Court judges last week, and disciplinary action against him is presently under contemplation.

In a formal order issued by the Registrar General, Arun Bhardwaj, the Court invoked its powers under Rule 3(1)(a) of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, read with Rule 27 of the Delhi Higher Judicial Service Rules, 1970, to place Singh under suspension with immediate effect.

The order further directed that until proceedings conclude, Singh’s headquarters would remain the office of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, South District, Saket, New Delhi. Additionally, he has been restrained from leaving the capital without prior permission from the competent authority.

The High Court clarified, “During the period this order is in force, Sanjeev Kumar Singh shall remain attached to the office of Principal District and Sessions Judge, South, Saket, and shall not leave Delhi without prior approval".

Prior to his suspension, Singh was serving as a District Judge at Saket Court, adjudicating commercial matters, and also held the position of Chairperson of the Saket Court’s residential complex committee.
