Trinamool Activist from Malda’s Habibpur block has lodged a Police complaint against a party leader, putting allegations of bribery.
Bablu Mandal alleged that TMC Leader and Maldazilla Parishad member Provas Choudhury took ₹2 lakh from him and promised him the block President’s post.
Mandal’s complaint said that he waited for the post for one year after the 2018 panchayat elections but it didn't produce a fruitful result. So, in his next move, he went to Choudhury’s home to ask his money back.
He mentioned that the money was not returned and alleged that Choudhury’s men assaulted him on Mar 29.
The TMC worker then lodged a complaint with Habibpur Police Station but when no action was taken, Mandal wrote to the Superintendent of Police and to Trinamool District President Mausam Noor. Party's District leadership then ordered an inquiry into the charges.
Noor said in her statement, “I’ve got the complaint. We assure we will launch a probe at the party level.”
SP Alok Rajoria also commented, “Police will inquire into each of the complaints.”
