July 11, 2017Mahatama Gandhi's grandson Gopalkrishna Devdas Gandhi , a retired IAS officer & diplomat, who became the 22nd Governor of West Bengal serving from 2004-09.
The former West Bengal governor will be the joint opposition's nominee for the post of Vice President in the elections for the post on 5th August, sources told the PTI on Tuesday.
This news comes even as a meeting is underway of several non-NDA parties on Tuesday in New Delhi.
The meeting has been called to specifically decide on a vice presidential nominee.
Gopalkrishna Devdas Gandhi was earlier among the top contenders for the opposition's Presidential candidate.
