Reportedly the the service was down in parts of Asia including India and also in a few European countries.
WhatsApp users in India and the several other countries experienced an downtime while trying to use the messaging service on Friday, with the customers stating that they were unable to send or receive messages.
WhatsApp was however back up after an hour-long global outage.
The website that tracks the social comments around trending issues stated that people were reporting the issue from Italy, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Germany, India, the US and Sri Lanka.
Details on nature and cause of outage weren’t immediately available.
WhatsApp Spokesperson stated that,“Earlier today, WhatsApp users globally had trouble accessing app for about an hour. This issue has been fixed and we apologize for inconvenience caused”.
Another outage tracking platform, Outage.report, revealed more than 400 reports of WhatsApp outage.
Southern and the Western parts of India were mostly affected.
Users shared their problems they were facing with WhatsApp in their tweets on Twitter.
