Recently Government has replied in the Parliament that there is no concession for students in Delhi Metro and that the Government does not fix the fare.
Government was replying to the questions raised by P.K. KUNHALIKUTTY and K. NAVASKANI, Members of Parliament.
The Government responded "As per Section 33 and 34 of the Metro Railway (Operation & Maintenance) Act, 2002, fare of Metro rail is fixed by Fare Fixation Committee (FFC) headed by either a sitting Judge or a retired Judge of a Hon’ble High Court. The fixation of fares is not done by the Government. The fare of Delhi Metro has been revised on the basis of recommendations of fourth FFC. The Committee has not recommended any concession to students, handicapped persons and senior citizens etc. As per Section 37 of the Act, the recommendations of the FFC are binding".
