Bihar CM’s office to be attached over dues of Rs 664 crore

A Patna civil court has ordered the attaching & auctioning of the old secretariat building, which houses CM Nitish Kumar’s office, & its premises for the realisation of Rs 664.85 crore which the state government owes the Bihar Rajya Bhumi Vikash Bank Samiti.

The old secretariat building also houses the offices of several cabinet ministers of the state as well as the chief secretary, home secretary & principal secretaries of several of the state departments.

Of the total amount, Rs 171.15 crore is the interest on a principal amount of Rs 493.7 crore calculated till August 31 last year.

The pending amount accrued mainly from loan waivers & subsidies given by the state government to people, especially to the farmers, but not paid by the government to the bank which was taken over from the state by the Union government in 2008.
