Actor Bikramjeet Kanwarpal, who has been a part of many popular films, TV shows and web series, passed away on Friday due to Covid-19 complications. He was 52.
Close friend and Delhi High Court Advocate, Rubinder Ghumman remembered him and payed homage. In a letter drafted in the Late Actor's memory, he worte:
Major Bikramjeet, you will always remain with us; reminiscing in our memories, guiding our souls.
Some People never go. They live with you even after Death has unkindly taken them away from you. Major Bikramjeet, my more than good friend, lighting guide; known to the world as the Famous Bollywood Actor was one of them. An Ex Army Major and son of an Army officer, his friends, coullegues and seniors dearly called him @ Bizzu. He did his schooling from Prestigious Boarding School in Kasuali hills called Lawrence School, Snawar and from those days itself, the brilliant student was loved by all his teachers, fonded by his calssmates. Bizz was passionate for acting since his childhood and actively used to participate in School Plays and Drama. Though a "Brat", a term used for Army officers Children, Bizz never took academics lightly. After completing his Education Major Bikramjeet@ Bizz joined the revered Indian Army. He was commissioned as an officer in Hodsons Horse, also called as the (4 Horse) a very Prestigious Regiment of Armoud Core raised in Bristish Era, pre-Independence. Being a Second Generation, 4 Horse was another Home for Major Bikramjeet since the very inception of his carrier. Soon after joining the regiment at Nabha (Punjab ), Bizz became the blue eyed boy of not only of his regiment, 4 Horse Officers but of the entire Brigade. This is where I met Major Bikramjeet @ Bizz for the first tiime as my Father Colonel AS Ghumman was BSTO 1 Armoud Brigade. I was studying in India's premier School PPS Nabha, also called as Punjab Public School Nabha, after having studied and migrated from Wood stock Massourie. I remember how was handsome, stunning, well read, Joviel, person Bizz sir was. He loved listening to Country side and soft music. Elton John, Brayn Adams were his favourite. We often used to exchange CDs of these Singers with each other. Known for his splendor sleek Sports Model Bike, Bizz sir was equally close and a dear friend of my brother Captain Ruminder Singh Ghumman. They used to freak out togather in Mumbai in latter part of year of their life and respected carriers. Coming back to Nabha Days (Nabha officers institute) whereas the officers used to finish their office work during day and we kids our school; in the evenings we would all meet at an officers club which hosted many indoor activities like Billiards room, Badminton hall, Table tennis room, Expensive library books on Indian Army and fiction and most importantly a Bar which had best of liquor and world's best nimbu pani made by its Bar Man, "Pie" as we called him. Here Major Bizz, Col Vivek a very dear friend and 3 months senior of Major Bikramjeet, their senior Col Feroze Khan who was a National Player of sqaush and a very much respected Officer of the Cantt, used to do get-togthers with many other Officers. They used to play Tug a War in space of Badminton Court and Major Bikramjeet was undoubtedly used to be our leader. After having gotten us a space, he used to go to his Friiends; Col Vivek and others and one could witness best of Queens English between Bizz Sir and and Col Vivek who was know for his Queens English. Where as Col Feroze used to onslought all the Officers with his power game, we kids used to pick up the key of Bizz Sir's Bike and take it for a spin only to come back after 2 hours giving the keys in his bachelor's room in mess which was called as 'Stallion Den' accomodating all the bachelor Officers of the Regiment. After fun days in Nabha, my Father got posted as Camp Cammandant Babina. As luck would have it 4 Horse got too within months got posted to Babina and we were again togather. Here my brother Captain Ruminder Singh Ghumman and Major Bikramjeet became best of buddies as they became Gym partners too. We all used to gang up at in evenings at Major Bikramjeet room to listen to music, have chit chat, play guitar. "Country roads take me home was our favourite number". Bizz sir was instrumental in teaching us how to Dance, right from Jive to Jazz. He was a person full of life. I remember putting on his favourite perfumes before going to parties and he used to guide saying "Buddy put on this one for the occasion." I owe my credits and debts of having many UPSC Competitive Exams coz of Bizz Sir. He was my Guide, my Mentor for the interview. Then there came a time whene we parted ways to set out for a new journey and a mission from Babina to fullfill our dreams. Major Bikramjeet resigned from Indian Army and went to Bollywood where he did superhit Movies like Paap, Platoon, Gazi Attack etc. He was also part of many hit Television Serials and became a known and loved Celebrity in Bollywood where as I declined to join Army and went ahead with becoming a Lawyer. My brother Captain Ruminder Ghumman when in Bombay was in regular touch with Bizz Sir. It was through him only, I once again got in touch with Bizz Sir and we relived our Childhood memories .Bizz Sir loved his Brother Mr Vishwajeet Kunwarpal a lot. We often used to talk about his brother, Uncle and Aunty who were spending their holidays in Solon in their summer cottage house. Latest I talked to him was when Bizz Sir was shooting for a film in Lucknow happen to be just a few days back. Never could in my worst nightmare I would have imagined that it was my last talk with him. He was in midst of writing a script for a Big Budget movie based on Indian Army. When Col Feroze Khan Sir informed me of Bizz Sir's sad demise, My world shook to its core. Somewhere inside me a feeling of emptyness has cropped in. I continue to feel shattered, broken and weak. Bizzu Sir, the most happening, free spirited, lively, thorough gentleman left us too soon. A man of his words and someone who lived life on his terms. A great artists on-off screen who knew how to live life not just on curtain but in real life too wiith same passion. Will miss you a lot Bizzuuuu sir, you will always be with us. Your memories are asset and of gold to us and even God can't take them away forget Death.
I am thankful to my good friend who suggested me to pen down my thoughts. It made me feel lighter and re-live, all moments with Bizz Sir.
Love and Salute
