The United States Department of Justice, also known as the Justice Department, is a federal executive department of the United States government tasked with the enforcement of federal law and administration of justice in the United States. It is equivalent to the justice or interior ministries of other countries.

About the opportunity

The SLIP is the Department’s competitive recruitment program for compensated summer internships.  Law students who participate in the SLIP benefit from an exceptional legal experience and invaluable exposure to the Department of Justice.  Interns represent diverse backgrounds and  interests, and come from a wide range of law schools throughout the country.

Eligibility

• Law students who have completed at least one full semester of legal study in a post-baccalaureate program by the application deadline are eligible to apply.
• Most successful applicants intern the summer between their second and third year of law school; however, graduating law students who will enter a judicial clerkship or a full-time graduate law program may intern following graduation. 
• Part-time law students are also eligible to apply.
