About the University

Amity University, Noida is India’s largest private Research University located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was established in 2005 by an Act of the State Legislature of Uttar Pradesh. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 22 of UGC Act and accredited by the NAAC with grade ‘A+’.

About the Program

In India, the competition law framework has emerged from being governed by the erstwhile Monopolistic and Restrictive Trade Practice (MRTP) Act, of 1969 to the current Competition Act, of 2002. The MRTP Act was framed on the basis of socialistic ideas and philosophies which is an essential element of Directive Principles of State Policy. However, the MRTP Act did not envisage effective measures against the public sector companies and was unfairly more restrictive to the private sector. Therefore, The Competition Act, of 2002 was introduced to address the inadequacies of the MRTP Act.
