Centre for Law, Language, and Literature at Maharashtra National Law University, Aurangabad is organizing One Day National Seminar on Interplay between Law and Literature.Date: 3rd March 2019

Venue: Seminar Hall, MNLU Aurangabad, Govt. B.Ed. College Campus, Padampura, Aurangabad- 431 005 (M.S.) India.

About the seminar

A lawyer spends as much time in reading and writing during his lifetime as a writer does. A literary bent helps lawyers argue better and judges articulate in a more convincing manner. At the same time, the judicial opinions of several judges such as Lord Denning, Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer, etc. have been regarded as texts of literary merit.

Critical theory, so central to the study of literature, is also an invaluable tool for the study of law, requiring a keenness for detail. Law and literature inter-relate as modes of representation and as strategies for engaging with social problems. The objective of the seminar is to discuss and examine the interplay between law and literature and using them as powerful tools to address issues.
