About the Journal

The NUSRL Journal of Child Rights is a bi-annual, blind peer review journal, which is published by National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi. The Journal primarily deals with contemporary and emerging developments in the field of Child Rights. The Journal’s objective is to promote and discuss at length recent and newsworthy issues in the field of Child Rights. It further aims to become a platform for students, researchers, and academicians around the world, where ideas can be exchanged regarding current issues in Child Rights.

Theme

Author(s) are encouraged to explore the contemporary dimensions and legal controversies relating to the broad theme ‘Child Rights’.

Sub- Themes

  • Child Pornography
  • Child trafficking
  • Child Labour
  • Child marriage
  • The Criminal Law Amendment Ordinance, 2018
  • Child Rights vis- a-vis Indian Constitution

However, this list is not exhaustive and the authors are free to choose a different sub- theme as long as it comes within the ambit of the main theme.

Contributions

General

Submissions may be in the form of:

  • Articles: An article must comprehensively analyse a specific issue. It must study the status quo, indicate the lacunae therein, and suggest potential solutions. An article may also compare the law of other jurisdictions to strengthen the author’s argument. An article should be between 5,000 and 7,000 words.
  • Essays: Essays are more concise than articles, in terms of scope and conceptualization. An essay should be between 3,000 and 5,000 words.
  • Case Comments: A comment critiques a recent judgement, landmark case or any recent legislation or bill before the Parliament or a state legislature. The word limit for a comment is between 1,500 and 3,000 words.
  • Book Reviews: A critical review may be undertaken of a book related to the law. The word limit for a review is between 1,500 and 3,000 words.

Word Limit

All the words limits mentioned above are exclusive of footnotes. Please note that the word limits will be strictly enforced.

Submission Guidelines

  • Co-authorship is permitted, subject to a limit of maximum of two authors per submission.
  • An abstract of not more than 300 words should be accompanied with every submission. It should describe the relevant conclusion drawn in the manuscript. The Abstract will form a part of the manuscript and is not required to be submitted before.
  • Author(s) Name(s), University/Organization, Paper Title, Email Address and Mobile Number, to be stated clearly, in a separate document and mailed with the manuscript.
  • No part of the paper should have been published earlier nor should it be under consideration for publication. Any form of plagiarism will result in immediate rejection of paper.
  • Last date of Submission: January 15, 2019
  • Submissions are to be mailed at “ccr@nusrlranchi.ac.in ” as a “.doc” or “.docx” file only.
  • The subject of the mail must read “Submission for Vol. I of Journal of Child Rights, NUSRL, Ranchi”
  • Submissions should be the original work of the author(s). Any kind of incorrect information shall render the submission rejected.

Formatting Guidelines

  • The text should be in Times New Roman, font size 12, spacing 1.5.
  • The manuscript should include footnotes and not end notes.
  • The footnotes should be in Times New Roman, font size 10 with single spacing
  • Citation Guidelines: Blue Book 19th Edition citation
