CBI Court sentences accused then Assistant Supdt. of Post, District Ghazipur (UP) to 4 years’ Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 1 lakh in a case of bribery

The Ld. Special Judge, CBI Court No.4, Lucknow has sentenced accused Shri Akhinanand Singh, then Assistant Supdt. of Post, Sub-Division Zamania, District Ghazipur (UP) to 4 years’ Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 1 lakh  in a case of bribery.

CBI had registered the instant case on 06.03.2013 against accused Akhinanand Singh, then Assistant Supdt. of Post, Sub-Division Zamania, District Ghazipur (UP) on allegations that accused demanded bribe amount of Rs.1000/- from the complainant for verification of death certificate of Grand Father of complainant, for life pension arrear amounting Rs.7150/- to Grand Mother of complainant.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.1000/- from the complainant.

After completion of investigation, CBI filed chargesheet against the accused.

After trial, the Court found the accused guilty and sentenced him accordingly.
