In his latest effort to push e-governance and open a new communication link between his office and the states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched a portal to address people’s grievances while monitoring key government schemes.

Named Pragati, which stands for “Pro-Active Governance And Timely Implementation”, is aimed to be a unique integrative and interactive net-based platform.

“The step is to ensure that governance in India becomes more efficient and responsive as the whole world is now observing India keenly,” Modi said on the occasion.

He mentioned Swachh Bharat, unseasonal rains and possible relief measures, in his first interaction on the Pragati platform.

In the two-hour long interaction through video conferencing with government officials, The PM also discussed more than 20 cases of grievances related to payment of Employees Provident Fund of private sector and Income Tax refunds, according to a PMO statement.

Apart from the public grievances, two issues flagged by states of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, regarding National Highways and clearance for Navi Mumbai airport, respectively, were also discussed.

The PM also spoke to officials on six central projects that involved at least 12 central departments and 13 states.

The three-tier system, involving the PMO, Union government secretaries, and chief secretaries of the states, will meet on a monthly basis.
