The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has taken serious note of officials attending office duties in casual attire, terming it as a cause of indiscipline and an impediment to the efficient functioning of the institution.

In a recent circular, the High Court directed all employees, both gazetted and non-gazetted, including personal staff attached to officers of the Registry, staff of e-Courts, IT Section, orderlies, ushers, and drivers, to strictly adhere to the prescribed dress code while on duty. The Court emphasized that maintaining uniformity in attire is essential for discipline and decorum within the institution.

The order makes it clear that any deviation from the prescribed uniform norms will be viewed seriously and may attract disciplinary action. Controlling officers have also been instructed to ensure strict compliance with these directions among their staff.

The circular has come into effect with immediate force.
