On Thursday, the Principal Civil Judge at Mulbagal in Kolar District stepped out of the Court hall to hear out a visually impaired man.
The incident took place when Devarajachari, from Mulbagal, came to the Court seeking free legal assistance from the Taluk Legal Services Authority to get his grievance redressed. He approached the authorities of the Legal Cell, gave his representation & sought an endorsement for the same.
However, Covid-19 guidelines stipulate that any pleas or documents submitted to the court or the Legal Services Cell be subjected to quarantine before the Judge peruses it.
Judge Yadawada sat on Court steps to convince petitioner
Officials of the Legal Services Authority told him that endorsement cannot be given ‘right away’. Devarajachari insisted on an endorsement & urged the authorities to bring the matter to the notice of the Judge.
When the issue was brought to the notice of Principal Civil Judge Haji Hussain Sab Yadawada, the Judge decided to step out of his Court to hear out the blind man.
Judge Yadawada sat on the steps of the Court & convinced the petitioner that the SOP doesn't permit immediate endorsement to be given as the documents have to be quarantined. The Judge assured the petitioner that suitable steps would be taken to provide him legal help. A satisfied Devarajachari ater left the court premises thanking the Judge.
Judge Yadawada told the news agency he had never come across such a situation in his 4 years as a Civil Judge. He said the aim of the Legal Service Authority is to help the needy persons.
He said the petitioner’s residential site at Mulbagal had been taken encroached & construction work had begun. Based on his plea, the Legal Services Authority has sought report from the authorities & justice would be done to Devarajachari, the Judge said.
