CBSE 12th Board Exam: PIL in Supreme Court for cancellation to be listed for hearing soon

There is some good news for students. The PIL filed in Supreme Court for cancellation of Class 12th Board Exams 2021 is likely to be heard soon. This renews hope for students of a possibility of cancelling exams even as many state boards have announced their decision to go ahead with them. Also, while CBSE has not said so as yet, it was made clear that the board is likely to conduct the CBSE 12th exams in July 2021.

As all may know, a PIL was filed in the Supreme Court last week, seek cancellation of the pending Class 12 board exams, including CBSE, CISCE as well as state boards. However, with the court’s vacation and unavailability of the CJI, the PIL has not been listed for hearing as yet. 

However, at the insistence of many senior lawyers, the Vacation Bench has said that it would isse directions to the registry to list ‘urgency applications’ before the Chief Justice of India. “We will issue directions to the Registry to list urgency applications before the Chief Justice of India,” a bench constituting of Justices Vineet Saran and BR Gaval said.  With this, the possibility of the PIL finding a hearing

In the meanwhile, the states have reportedly shared their feedback on the pending board exams 2021. Most of the states including Punjab, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka etc. have shared their intent of conducting the examinations. Gujarat State Board has also released the dates. As for CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2021, the Education Minister is expected to make final announcement by June 1.
