On Sunday, just after completing their stay at a quarantine centre, about seventeen residents of Indonesia & Thailand were sent to jail in Bahraich district for violating the Passport Act & visa norms.
All the seventeen had come to Bahraich after attending the Tablighi Jamaat event in Nizamuddin & detained, along with 4 Indians, from 2 centres in the town by police on March 31.
Bahraich SP Bipin Mishra said that "All the 17 persons had attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in New Delhi & had come to Bahraich thereafter. All of them along with four locals who had given refuge to them in Taj & Kuriash Mosques in the city were sent to quarantine centre".
The Police Chief added that "After their test was found negative for the infection, they were produced before the magistrate as an FIR had been lodged against them for violating the Passport Act & visa norms. While the magistrate allowed the release of four locals after submission of a bond, the foreign nationals were sent to jail".
According to an official they will be produced before the magistrate again after fourteen days.
