IT for Change is an NGO based in Bengaluru, India. IT for Change aims for a society in which digital technologies contribute to human rights, social justice and equity.
IT for Change is looking for early career researchers to work on two exciting projects – on national frameworks for data governance, that includes data protection and privacy, but extends to other areas such as data value and ownership, community /public/ private data etc., and on gender-based hate speech.
The projects will produce a cutting-edge body of knowledge to chart future directions for governance in relation to the complex ecosystem of actors in the digital age. They are building a team that can bring legal, sociological, technological, and developmental insights to undertake legal review, policy analysis, feminist critique, case studies of approaches and emerging models in other parts of the world etc.
Early career researchers with a Masters degree in Law and expertise in technology governance and data policy debates and a passion for progressive social change are invited to apply for this role.
The role involves independent research and writing, including media pieces; participation in collaborative knowledge production to support senior team members; organising round tables/workshops and representing IT for Change’s policy positions in key global and national forums.
The position will be based in Bengaluru, though frequent travel will be involved.
