About PLD
PLD is a legal resource group pursuing the realisation of social justice and equality for women. We work in contexts of marginalisation shaped by gender, sexuality, caste, culture and poverty, to take into account the intersecting systems of oppression that diminish recognition and access to rights. We pursue our mission through three mutually complementary strategies – building capacities, creating evidence-based knowledge, and information resources, alongside engaging with social policy at domestic and global levels
Role and Responsibilities of the Research Associate
- To undertake a literature review, synthesise information, draw on the field as well as macro data, and carry out collaborative research projects on themes of gender, sexuality, criminalisation and the law.
- To support coalitions, teams, learning communities and projects.
- To write and adapt writing styles for diverse stakeholders and to serve different purposes such as papers, submissions to policy bodies, and reports among others.
- To reach out, coordinate and engage with sector-specific stakeholders, coalitions and policy bodies.
- To make presentations and represent PLD on diverse platforms,
- To seek out appropriate opportunities and avenues in which to present, collaborate with and amplify PLD’s work; and develop proposals and projects collaboratively.
Eligibility
- A law degree and/ or postgraduate/ doctoral degree in equivalent social sciences with at least 8 years of work experience in India in relation to women’s rights.
- Must have published work with demonstrated ability to use both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Knowledge of feminist debates and histories, grasp of themes relating to early marriage, adolescent sexuality, sexual harassment in the workplace, and gender and sexuality issues.
- A record of written/ published peer-reviewed papers, reports, and presentations.
- Good written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi.
- A team player, a self-starter, with the ability for collaborative work and the capacity to deliver within timelines.
- Willingness to be part of the non-profit organisational culture and give a three-year commitment to the organization
Salary
Salary and benefits are comparable to the non-profit sector; and commensurate with experience and internal equity.
