Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey's first visit to India, town-hall meet at IIT Delhi

Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey is in India for the first time where he will be hosting a town-hall meet on 12 November with the students of IIT Delhi talking about the role of today's youth in shaping today's political & social environment.

This move could also be to ramp up the popularity of the social networking application & widen its reach & visibility amongst the Indian internet users.

Dorsey will be in India for a week's time and in due course he is rumoured to meet the IT Minister of India, Ravi Shankar Prasad as well. Dorsey tweeted letting his followers know that he is visiting India.

After coming to India, the first stop in his itinerary led straight to the Buddhist spiritual leader, Dalai Lama whom he talked to & hailed as "an amazing teacher". Talk about a divine calling.

It could also be that the company is looking to recruit a management body in India since Twitter hasn't been able to generate substantial advertisement.

The last update of Dorsey's whereabouts came from Jaipur where he posted a picture on Twitter. He is quiet getting his fair share of exploring cultures & cities.

On a Twitter post Mr. Dorsey said: "Hello India. My first time here after a lifetime of wanting to experience it."

Twitter in June this year announced new leadership structure, in an attempt to drive a "stronger customer-focused approach and team dynamic."

Of the 10 new divisions - Technology, Engineering, Product, Revenue Product, Design and Research, Customers, People & Marketing, finance, Counsel, two of them are led by Indian-origin executives. Parag Agarwal, an IIT Bombay alumnus, heading Technology & Vijaya Gadde for Counsel.
