About HPNLU
The Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU, Shimla) was established by the state government in 2016 through an Act of the legislature (Act 16 of 2016). In the Himalayas’ geographical terrains, HPNLU, Shimla, is the best place for legal education.
The climate and environmental privileges of its placement make the university one of the most sought-after law education institutions.
Under the academic and administrative leadership of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, the team of HPNLU is committed to achieving new heights in legal education while proactively organising a plethora of events, and spreading socio-legal awareness through discussions on various legal topics of significance in the contemporary world.
About the Conference
Achieving sustainable development is no small feat. It requires a multi-pronged approach that encompasses technological innovation, responsible resource management, and a robust legal framework.
This conference on “Advancing Environmental Laws for Sustainable Development” aims to foster a critical dialogue on how environmental laws can be effectively utilized to navigate the complex challenges of our time.
Through these discussions, we aim to identify gaps in current legal frameworks, explore emerging legal trends, and propose innovative solutions that advance sustainable development.
About Call for Papers
Academicians (including faculty members, research scholars, and students), Professionals from legal and non-legal fraternities, and environmental officials across the globe are invited to contribute to the conference by submitting research paper(s)/article(s) and case studies.
The selected papers from the International Conference will be featured in the online HPNLU Journal on Environment and Disaster Management (JEDM) with ISSN: (2583-1429). Co-authorship is allowed for up to 2 persons only.

Submission Guidelines
- All abstracts (up to 500 words, excluding keywords) are to be submitted through the link given below this post.
- Intimation of acceptance of abstract and registration details shall be shared via e-mail by February 18th, 2025. Registration and fee payment is to be completed by March 1st, 2025.
- The participants must submit the full paper/manuscript by March 10th, 2025.
- Co-authorship is allowed up to a maximum of 2 authors, and each author must pay the registration fee and provide their name and details.
- Multiple entries for individual authors are not allowed.
- The paper should be in doc./docx. format and in a single-column layout with margins justified on both sides.
- The length of a paper should not be less than 3500 words (excluding footnotes).
- The subheading should be in font size 12, bold and Times New Roman, left-aligned.
- The main text should be in font size 12, Normal, Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing and justified.
- All references must be in the form of footnotes with font size 10, Times New Roman, 1.0 spacing and should be according to the Bluebook 19th Edition.
- The submissions should not have more than a 20% Similarity Index (including footnotes). Tables and graphs should be avoided in the paper.
- The selected papers from the International Conference will be featured in the online HPNLU Journal on Environment and Disaster Management (JEDM) with ISSN: (2583-1429).
