In a key development for the higher judiciary, the Supreme Court Collegium has approved the elevation of three judicial officers as Judges of the Karnataka High Court, strengthening the court’s bench and addressing vacancy concerns that impact judicial efficiency and case pendency.
The decision was taken in the Collegium’s meeting held on April 14, 2026, where the names of Smt. Rajeshwari Narayana Hegde, Smt. Kedambadi Ganesh Shanthi, and Shri Mahadevappa Brungesh were cleared for appointment. The move comes as part of the ongoing process to reinforce High Courts with experienced judicial officers from the subordinate judiciary, ensuring continuity and institutional expertise at the constitutional court level.
