Recently, the Supreme Court under the leadership of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, issued a fresh circular outlining changes to the schedule for case hearings. As per the new directive, regular hearing matters will no longer be scheduled on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Instead, these days will be reserved for the listing of miscellaneous matters, including Transfer Petitions and Bail Matters.

In line with the revised procedure, the Court specified that only special bench or part-heard matters, whether related to regular or miscellaneous hearings, will be considered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. These matters will be listed in the post-lunch session or as per the direction of the competent authority. The circular emphasized that no regular hearing matters would be listed on Wednesdays and Thursdays until further notice.

Under the existing system, Mondays and Fridays are designated as miscellaneous days for the listing of fresh admission matters, while regular hearings, including final hearings of cases, typically take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This new structure aims to streamline case listings and improve the efficiency of hearings.
