Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal was recently felicitated by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for raising ₹43.43 crore through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to support welfare measures for advocates. The felicitation took place at Library 2 in the Supreme Court premises, in the presence of the Friday Group, a collective of legal professionals.
The initiative, part of Sibal’s campaign during the SCBA presidential elections, aims to provide medical insurance and financial aid to members of the Bar. With ₹45 crore already secured, Sibal expressed confidence in reaching ₹50 crore by the end of April and shared his extended goal of ₹60 crore. He also highlighted his discussions with CJI Sanjiv Khanna, who assured support in securing matching government funds for a sustainable insurance scheme.
Advocate G. Seshagiri, founder of the Friday Group, encouraged replication of the model across state and district bars.
