In an official notification issued on October 20, 2025, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has designated seventy-six advocates as Senior Advocates, marking the culmination of the 2024 round of applications for senior designation. Out of 210 advocates who had applied, 76 have been conferred the honour, including five women advocates.

As per the notification, the conferment is subject to the condition that each designated Senior Advocate “shall conduct ten Free Legal Aid cases pro bono every year.”

It may be noted that although Punjab Advocate General Maninderjit Singh Bedi and Advocate Sanjeev Kaushik were speculated to be considered suo motu for the designation, their names do not appear in the final list issued by the High Court.
