Maharashtra has filed a fourth application before Supreme Court, requesting the setting up of a constitutional bench to hear the Maratha reservation case. The state had approached SC to vacate an interim stay on socially and educationally backward classes (SEBC) Maratha reservation.
The state requested SC earlier on October 7 and 27, and November 2. SC, in an interim order, stayed implementation of SEBC reservation in the state, leading to a delay in the admission process. The Maratha community has started protests against the state government, holding it responsible for the stay.
