On Sunday, Justice Arun Mishra, who is due to retire on Sept 02, has turned down farewell invitations by Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and Confederation of Indian Bar citing COVID-19 pandemic as the core reason.

In his letter to both the SCBA and the CIB, Justice Mishra has stated that he considers Bar as 'the mother of judiciary' and that it would have been a pleasure to attend the farewell functions otherwise.

Justice Mishra stated that 'taking into account the severe situation and suffering of the world due to COVID-19 pandemic, his conscience wouldn;t allow him to be a part of the function,'

He though added that he would visit the Bar once the situation normalizes and pay his respects.

Meanwhile, a romour regarding the farewell stating that the association shalln't organize any farewell for Justice Arun Mishra already did round on which President of SCBA, Dushyant Dave gave clarification by refuting it.
