On Tuesday, a Special Court in Barmer sentenced ten people to life in Jail & imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 each on charges of receiving a huge quantity of RDX, ammunition & weapons from Pakistan in Sept 2009. 4 accused are still wanted in the case.
Around eleven years ago, terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa had ordered the consignment from Pakistan for carrying out serial explosions across the Country. Then Barmer SP Navjyoti Gogoi, who is currently an IGP, & his team along with the SOG recovered the explosives & ammunition from the possession of the accused.
After the trial, the Court of Judge Vamita Singh sentenced the accused under the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act & the Arms Act.
