The Central government has officially notified the transfer of Delhi High Court Judge, Justice Chandra Dhari Singh, back to the Allahabad High Court. The move follows the Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendation made in November 2024.
The Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, along with Justice BR Gavai and Justice Surya Kant, had advised Justice Singh’s repatriation to his parent High Court. However, the recommendation remained pending with the Centre for several months before finally being cleared. A notification to this effect was issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
Justice Singh was initially transferred from Allahabad High Court to Delhi High Court in October 2021, alongside Justice Yashwant Varma, whose transfer back to Allahabad High Court has also been recently approved.
Justice Singh obtained his law degree from Delhi University in 1993 and began practicing as an advocate in 1994. He served as an Advocate-on-Record at the Supreme Court, primarily practicing in Delhi. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court in September 2017 and was later made a Permanent Judge in September 2019.
