Mr. Akhil Kumar Sah, learned counsel for the petitioner.
2. Mr. Suyash Pant, learned S.C. for the State.
3. This Court vide order dated 26.02.2026 directed State counsel to seek instructions in the matter.
4. Today, on instruction, which is on record, it is submitted by learned Standing Counsel that the Police has given a report to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Didihat, that there is a case of Section 60 of United Provinces Excise Act, 1910, registered against the petitioner; however the same has been confessed by the petitioner before the Court of law.
5. It is for this reason the Authorities are not in a position to issue character certificate to the petitioner.
6. In view of the statement made by learned counsel for the State, learned Standing Counsel is directed to file a counter affidavit within four weeks.
7. List this case on 20.04.2026.
