1. This petition had been filed primarily against the deficit recovery of the actual price at which fancy registration numbers of vehicles were sold.

2. The State of Punjab has filed affidavit dated 07.04.2026 wherein it was stated that out of a total number of 173 cases, recovery of deficient amount had been effected in 62 cases whereas registration numbers in 69 cases had been blacklisted by the concerned authority. As regards 34 cases, the Government of Punjab stated that no recovery was required to be made. In 5 cases, registration numbers had been surrendered by the owners and three cases pertained to old registrations and two cases related to the period prior to issuance of notification PRIYANKA THAKUR 2026.05.25 16:24 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CWP-4692-2016 (O&M) -2- dated 09.01.2014. Lastly, there are two cases where their registration number have been cancelled.

3. It is also evident from the affidavit that erring officials have been charge-sheeted under Rule 8 of the Punjab Civil Service Rules, 1970, and disciplinary proceedings are pending against them.

4. In view of the above, it appears that the cause raised herein stands satisfied.

5. However, the petitioner is granted liberty to re-visit the Court in case any grievance remains un-redressed.

6. Accordingly, the present writ petition stands disposed of.

7. Pending miscellaneous application(s) including CM-19148-2021 and CM-19149-2021, shall also stand disposed of.
