1. By this common order, all the aforementioned petitions, the details of which have been given in the heading, are being disposed of as, all the petitions involve the same question of law on similar facts.
2. Challenge in the present petition is to the rejection of nomination papers of candidates seeking to contest in the upcoming elections as well as to the voter list prepared qua the wards in which such elections are to be held.
3. After arguing for some time, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the present writ petition may kindly be disposed of having been not pressed any further with liberty to the petitioners to file Election Petition in case need so arises after the conclusion of election process.
4. Ordered accordingly.
5. It goes without saying that the Election Tribunal will remain bound by the directions issued by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in SLP (C) No. 25527 of 2024, titled as "Sunita Rani and others v. State of Punjab and others" to decide the election petition as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six months from the date of its filing, subject to the cooperation of the parties.
6. It is further noted that in case, after the decision of the election petition, the Election Tribunal finds the culpability at part of any officer discharging the duties while conducting the elections, that such officer violated any provisions of law or acted against law, the Election Tribunal will be within its jurisdiction to pass an appropriate order qua initiation of disciplinary proceedings against such officer(s) so that in future no such VANITA 2026.05.22 18:40 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order and judgment CWP-16706-2026 and 5 other connected cases misconduct causing prejudice to any contesting candidate ever happens again on the part of the electoral machinery.
7. The petitions are disposed of in the above terms.
