1. Petitioners seek quashing of FIR No.0057 dated 26.07.2024 under Sections 406, 498-A Indian Penal Code, Women Police Station, District Ludhiana, Punjab and all consequential proceedings arising therefrom, on the basis of compromise dated 30.08.2025.

2. On 17.03.2026, this Court directed the parties to appear before learned trial Court/Illaqa Magistrate for recording of their statements on the basis of compromise dated 30.08.2025.

3. In compliance of the aforesaid order, parties appeared before learned JMIC, Ludhiana on 23.03.2026. Statement of Investigating Officer ASI Gurmail Singh was recorded on 03.04.2026. Learned JMIC, Ludhiana has submitted her report recording satisfaction that all the parties have SUMIT SINGLA 2026.04.22 19:21 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CRM-M-62282-2025 (O&M) -2- entered into a valid compromise without any influence or coercion. Point- wise report as under has been submitted:

"1. Originally, the FIR was registered only against one accused i.e. Mandeep Singh @ Honey Rana. During investigation three additional accused namely Anita Kumari, Purshotam Rana, Manish Thakur were added.

2. Total four accused appeared before this Court to make their statements.

3. During investigation, accused Anita Kumari, Purshotam Rana and Manish Thakur were nominated as accused in the present case.

4. No accused has been declared as proclaimed offender.

5. After registration of the case, offence under Section 506 IPC was added during investigation.

6. Neither any investigation is pending against any accused nor any accused has been declared as innocent.

7. Name of complainant in the present case is Priyanka Bansal.

8. Complainant has appeared in this Court and made her statement.

9. The challan has not been presented before this Court till today.

10. The compromise between the parties is genuine, voluntary, out of free will of the parties and without any pressure SUMIT SINGLA 2026.04.22 19:21 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CRM-M-62282-2025 (O&M) -3- or coercion or undue influence.

11. As per statement of IO, four other FIRs i.e. FIR No. 461 dated 24.12.2019, u/s 402, 120-B and 24 Immigration Act, PS Division no. 5, Ludhiana, FIR no. 204 dated 21.12.2021, u/s 69 dated 341, 506 IPC, PS PAU Ludhiana, FIR no. 19.08.2023, u/s 452, 380, 323, 427, 506, 148, 149 IPC, PS PAU Ludhiana and FIR no. 57, dated 17.04.2025, u/s 66C, IT Act, 25-27 Arms Act, 351 (2) BNS PS Haibowal, Ludhiana are registered against accused Mandeep Singh @Honey Rana. Accused Anita Kumar and Purshotam Rana are also arrayed as accused in FIR no. 69 dated 19.08.2023, u/s 452, 380, 323, 427, 506, 148, 149 IPC, PS PAU Ludhiana.

12. IO has appeared and got recorded his statement."

4. Learned State counsel and learned counsel for respondent No.2 have not raised any dispute regarding the factum of compromise between petitioners and respondent no.2.

5. There are 4 other cases stated to be pending against petitioner No.1 and 1 case against petitioners No.2 and 4. Admittedly in all of them, respondent No.2 is the complainant. Those cases also arise out of the matrimonial discord and appropriate proceedings are stated to have been initiated for quashing of the cases by way of compromise.

6. Since the matter has been amicably settled between the parties, continuation of the criminal proceedings would be an exercise in futility. The dispute which has its genesis in a matrimonial discord, warrants exercise of powers under Section 528 BNSS.

7. Following principles of law laid down by the Full Bench Judgment of this Court in "Kulwinder Singh and others Vs. State of Punjab and another" 2007(3) RCR (Criminal) 1052 and Hon'ble Supreme Court in "Gian Singh Versus State of Punjab and others" (2012) 10 SCC 303, the petition is allowed.

8. FIR No.0057 dated 26.07.2024 under Sections 406, 498-A Indian Penal Code, Women Police Station, District Ludhiana, Punjab and all consequential proceedings arising therefrom, are quashed qua the petitioners.

9. Pending miscellaneous applications, if any, stand disposed of.
