1. By this common order, 13 writ petitions, the details of which have been given in the heading, are being decided as all these petitions involve the same question of law on similar facts.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner(s) submits that the impugned orders by which the claim of the petitioners has been rejected for step up of their pay equivalent to the pay being drawn by their juniors is not only arbitrary and illegal but have been passed without going through the actual facts as well as the settled principle of law on the issue including the judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in Civil Appeal No. 3250 of 2006 titled as Commissioner and Secretary to Govt. of Haryana and others Vs. Ram Sarup Ganda and others, decided on 02.08.2006.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Arun Gupta, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, Mr. Satnam Preet Singh, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, Mr. Swapan Shorey, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab and Mr. Amarpreet Singh Bains, Asstt. Advocate General, Punjab, who are present in Court, accept notice on behalf of the respondent-State.

Learned counsel for the respondents on instructions from Ms. Jatinder Kaur, Superintendent with Mr. Davinder Singh, Clerk, Department of Social Security, submit that the impugned orders rejecting the claim of the petitioner(s) be treated as withdrawn with liberty to pass a fresh order on the issue concerned by the competent authority and while passing the fresh order, the judgment in Ram Sarup Ganda and others (supra) will be taken into 4 of 5 ::: Downloaded on - 05-09-2024 23:41:09 ::: Neutral Citation No:=2024:PHHC:113622 CWP No. 20842-2024 and other connected matters 5 consideration to decide whether, the petitioner(s) are entitled for the step up of their pay as being claimed by them and a fresh appropriate speaking order will be passed within a period of eight weeks of the receipt of copy of this order.
6. Learned counsel for the petitioner(s) submits that keeping in view the fact that the impugned orders have been withdrawn, the present petitions may kindly be disposed of having been not pressed any further.
7. Ordered accordingly.
8. A photocopy of this order be placed on the file of connected cases.
