1. The petitioner has filed instant petition under articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India seeking directions to respondents to consider him for the post of DSP.
2. The petitioner joined Punjab Police on 05.04.1993 as Constable. He was selected on the basis of achievements in sports. He was further promoted to the rank of Head Constabl Constable, Assistant Sub--

22.11.2002 and 06.07.2011 respectively. He was included in the list of candidates eligible for promotion to the post of DSP, however, owever, he was not promoted to the rank of the DSP. He along with two other officials filed CWP No.3473 of 2023 before this Court which was disposed of vide order dated 12.04.2023 with a direction to respondent to consider their claim. However, claim of petitioner was kept pending on account of one FIR pending against him. He has been acquitted vide judgment dated 04.03.2024 passed by Ld. Judicial Magistrate Ist Class, Amritsar. SSP Tarn Taran vide letter dated 12.08.2024 has requested DGP to promote the petitioner to the rank of DSP. The matter is pending before DGP and he is not taking decision in one or another way.
3. Mr. Aman Dhir, DAG, Punjab, who on advance notice is present in Court accepts notice and waives service, submits that competent authority would look into the matter and pass an appropriate order within four months from today.
4. Ms. Alka Chatrath agrees to aforesaid statement of State counsel.
5. In the wake of statement of learned State counsel the instant petition stands disposed of.
