1. The prayer made in the present petition is for directing the respondent Nos.1 to 5 to regularize the services of the petitioners prior to 13.10.2016 and to grant the seniority and service benefits of regularization of service to them.
2. Learned counsel would submit that Ruldu Singh-respondent No.6, who was junior to the petitioners, having been appointed in 1999 and had been granted regularization vide order dated 13.10.2016, Annexure P-2, while the petitioners were between 1980, 1973 to 1999 and had been regularized between 2018 and 2022. In this regard, a legal notice dated 23.01.2024, Annexure P-3, has been served upon respondent Nos.1 to 5, which has yet not evoked any response. He thus, at this stage, on instructions, submits that the petitioners are sanguine of it being considered in a positive manner, in case, a direction is given to respondent Nos.1 to 5 to decide the same in a time bound manner by granting them an opportunity of hearing.

4. At the asking of the Court, Mr. Swapan Shorey, DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State and has no objection to the limited prayer made.
5. In view of the above and without commenting on the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to respondent Nos.1 to 5 to decide the legal notice 23.01.2024, Annexure P-3 expeditiously, which this Court has no reason to believe the authorities would not address in a just, fair and reasonable manner. Upon doing so, after notice and hearing offered to them and if found entitled, grant the benefit forthwith. Needless to say, if the orders are adverse to their interest, the same shall contain reasons and the petitioners shall be free to seek legal redress thereupon.
