1. The petitioner through instant petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondents to re-issue her passport.
2. The petitioner was issued passport on 08.05.2013 which expired on 07.05.2023. She applied for re-issuance of passport vide application dated 29.12.2023.
3. Ms. Shivya Sehgal, Advocate submits that as per her information, the police vide report dated 02.01.2024 have confirmed that there is no criminal case pending against the petitioner. The case of the petitioner is squarely covered by judgment of this Court in Mohan Lal @ Mohna vs. Union of India and others, 2023 SCC OnLine P&H 1391.

4. Ms. Neha Sharma, learned counsel for respondent-Union of India submits that as per her instructions, passport authority has not received clear report from the police authorities, thus, it is unable to process application of the petitioner.
5. On the asking of Court, Mr. Aman Dhir, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab got verified the factual position from the jurisdictional police authorities. He submits that as per telephonic instructions received from Police Station Moti Nagar, District Ludhiana, no criminal case is pending against the petitioner.
6. Faced with this, learned counsel for the respondents submits that competent authority would decide application of the petitioner within 6 weeks from today in terms of judgment passed by this Court in Mohan Lal (supra).
7. In the wake of statement of learned counsel for the respondents, the present petition stands disposed of.
