1. The prayer in the present Civil Writ Petition filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, is to issue a writ in the nature of mandamus, for directing the respondents to pay the arrears of revised pay scale w.e.f. the date of promotion to the post of Tax Collectors.
2. Learned counsel would submit that the petitioners had approached this Court by filing CWP No.12595 of 2018, directing respondents to revise their pay scale from 10300+34800+3200 to 10300+34800+4200 as the Department of Finance had also recommended it vide letter dated 17.10.2014, which was disposed of vide order dated 17.05.2018, Annexure P-9, by directing the respondents to consider the decide the legal notice, whereupon, during the contempt proceedings initiated against the respondents by filing COCP-376- 2019, Annexure P-11, the respondents vide order dated 21.12.2020, Annexure P-12, have revised the pay of the post, to which the petitioners had been promoted. However, the arrears thereof have not been released so far. In this regard, a legal notice dated 19.10.2023, Annexure P-13, has been served upon the respondents, which has yet not evoked any response. He thus, at this stage, on instructions, submits that the petitioners are sanguine of it being considered HAMANT 2024.03.13 19:22 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this order/judgment CWP-3779-2024 2024:PHHC:035680 2 in a positive manner, in case, a direction is given to the respondents to decide the same in a time bound manner by granting them an opportunity of hearing.

4. At the asking of the Court, Mr. Swapan Shorey, DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State and has no objection to the limited prayer made.

In view of the aforesaid and without commenting upon the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to the respondents to consider the legal notice dated 19.10.2023, Annexure P-13 and decide the same taking note of the pleas raised, within a period of six months and .
