JUDGMENT
Dated this the 24th day of June, 2022 The petitioner, an Ex-service man has applied for gun licence, purportedly for personal protection and protection of his crops. The application is pending consideration before the respondent. The petitioner is aggrieved by the delay in deciding the application.
2. Learned Government Pleader submitted that, since the application was filed in November, 2021, some time is required for obtaining reports from the police and other authorities.
3. Learned Counsel for the petitioner pointed out that as per the provisions of the Arms Act and Rules, decision on the application for gun licence has to be taken in a time bound manner.
W.P.(C) No.18166 of 2022 -3- The writ petition is hence disposed of, directing the respondent to take a decision on Ext.P1 application, with specific reference to Exts.P2 and P3 decisions, within two months of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
