1. Counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that suffice it would be for the disposal of this Public Interest Litigation if a direction is given to the respondents to convene periodical meetings of Sentence Review Board (SRB) in accordance with Rule 1249 of Delhi Prisons Rules, 2018 so that sentence imposed upon the convicts may be reviewed periodically. Counsel W.P.(C) 11223/2019 Page 1 of 2 appearing for the respondents fairly submitted that they will act in this regard in accordance with rules and regulations prescribed under the Delhi Prisons Rules, 2018.

2. In view of the aforesaid limited submissions, we direct the respondent authority to convene the meeting of the Sentence Review Board periodically under the Delhi Prisons Rules, 2018 for reviewing the sentences awarded to the convicts. However, the decision will be taken by the said Sentence Review Board (SRB) in accordance with law, rules, regulations and Government policy applicable to the facts of the each case which comes before it for reviewing of sentence imposed to the convict.

3. With these observations, this writ petition is disposed of.
