ORAL JUDGMENT [PER SMT. V.K. TAHILRAMANI, J.] :
1. Heard both sides.
2. The petitioner preferred an application for parole on 2.5.2013. By order dated 6.12.2013, it was ordered that the petitioner be released on parole for a period of 30 days. Pursuant to the said order, the petitioner was released on parole from 31.5.2014 to 30.6.2014. 7. cri wp 665-17.doc parole. The said application was granted and the parole period was extended to 30.7.2014. The petitioner thereafter preferred second application for extension of parole for a further period of 30 days. The said application was rejected by order dated 12.9.2014, hence, the petitioner preferred Criminal Writ Petition No. 4887 of 2014. This Court, by order dated 18.7.2016, granted the second extension of parole i.e extension for a further period of 30 days i.e from 1.8.2014 to 30.8.2014. The petitioner surrendered on 18.9.2014. The prayer of the petitioner is that his parole period be extended by a further period of 19 days.
3. The maximum period that the parole can be granted was 90 days. This is stated in Rule 24 of The Prisons (Bombay) Furlough & Parole Rules, 1959, hence, no further extension beyond the period of 90 days can be granted. Hence, we are not inclined to interfere, hence, rule is discharged.
