On 28th October, a bench of Delhi High Court, consisting of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan while hearing a petition held that a peshkar/court reader are duty bound to write down the order in a legible manner, failing which, it may be treated as misconduct. Therefore, if the order is written in the order-sheet in a manner which is unable to read, the erring official should be issued explanation and thereafter he may be punished departmentally, as per law.

Following the order, the High Court directed the District Judges across the State of Uttar Pradesh to issue direction to Peshkars / Court readers to who write the order-sheet, to the effect that the order should be written in a manner that can be read properly.

The facts of the case include that a plea was filed by Savita Yadav seeking speedy trial seeking expeditious trial of the case registered upon her complaint against her Sections 498-A, 323, 504 & 506 I.P.C. and section ¾ of Dowry Prohibition Act.

Following this the court observed that the order in the order-sheet was written in a manner which was unable to read therefore the defaulting official should be issued an explanation and thereafter he must be punished departmentally, as per law.
