About the Opportunity
They are looking for motivated lawyer who will assume the role of Legal Counsel, India to support the business of the WS Audiology group (“WSA”) in the areas of legal and compliance. You will be part of a highly driven and motivated multi-cultural international team of lawyers.
You will work closely with all functions and business leads and their teams to provide practical and commercially-focused legal advice to support the growth and expansion of the business in India. In addition to legal topics and advice, you will support to implement global compliance and data privacy policies, processes and trainings for India .
Roles & Responsiblities
- Provide succinct and business-oriented solutions to management, function leads, and business partners on general corporate law, employment/labor law issues, and any other legal issues and risks arising out of day-to-day operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with customers/vendors and any other third parties.
- Ensure good overview and maintenance of all corporate secretarial matters and records for WSA entities in India.
- Work with the relevant practice groups within the legal department to develop, manage, and maintain template agreements, and contract playbooks to support sales, M&A, and procurement processes.
- Provide legal support on retail M&A, pre-acquisition due diligence, and customer loan/financing projects in APAC.
- Support the APAC Compliance Officer to implement WSA compliance and data privacy program, including its anti-bribery compliance, anti-trust compliance policy, and tools, and advise internal business clients regarding how to implement initiatives in a manner that is consistent with compliance policies and best practices.
- This also includes assisting the APAC Compliance Officer in investigations of compliance-related complaints, compliance internal audits, and ensuring that the disciplinary and compliance reporting procedures are properly implemented globally.
- Prepare and conduct trainings for employees on such other legal and/or compliance topics as may be assigned.
- Support APAC Data Privacy Officer to implement the WSA Data Privacy program, including engaging with stakeholders to establish and drive the roll-out of data privacy policies and use of controls and processes, including developing and delivering training programs for employees to promote data privacy awareness for WSA entities in India.
- Investigate data privacy-related complaints, carry out audits/assessments, carry out data mapping, monitor and report on risks, in line with established procedures and processes
- Implement global initiatives, projects, and reporting obligations as may be cascaded from the Chief Legal Officer.
Eligibility Criteria
- At least 5 years PQE in a leading law firm and as an in-house counsel from an established MNC, preferably with some experience from the Healthcare/medical device industry
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively, with a solution-oriented approach, in teams within legal, business, and functional areas.
- Self-motivated and proactive individual who is able to work independently and drive changes
- Robust personality with high levels of energy and drive, with an ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic corporate environment
- Forward-thinking team player with a flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning.
