About the Cell

The Cell has been established with the objective of fostering and advancing interdisciplinary research.

It aims to engage in the discussion and analysis of important judgments. It strives to encourage students to develop their research and publication base.

However, above all, as the name suggests, the Cell aims to enable students to hone invaluable skills of research and analysis. It seeks to help foster such skills through events and publications, such is the case in the present instance.

About the Competition

We are elated to announce the 1st Research Note Competition, 2025. This competition is exclusively designed for the first and second-year students of NLIU Bhopal to introduce them to the discipline of academic legal research.

It encourages participants to engage with contemporary legal questions through concise, well-structured research notes that reflect clarity, balanced analysis, and precision in writing.

Eligibility

The competition is exclusively open to students in their first and second years at the university. Students are allowed to participate individually or in a team of up to three members.

Submission Guidelines

• Page Limit: The maximum page limit is 10 pages, which excludes the cover page and bibliography.
• Language: Submissions should be simple, clear, and crisp, avoiding unnecessary verbosity.
• Font: Times New Roman.
• Font Size: 12pt for the main text.
• Line Spacing: 1.5.
• Margins: 1 inch on all sides.
• Alignment: The text must be justified.
• Footnotes: Only footnotes are permitted; no hyperlinks or endnotes. Footnotes must be in Times New Roman, 10pt font size, and with single line spacing. All citations must strictly follow the OSCOLA (4th edition) citation style.

How to Submit?

• Method: Submissions must be sent via a Google form, which will be shared prior to the submission deadlines.
• File Format: The research note must be submitted in both PDF and MS Word formats.
• File Format: The file should be named in the format “TeamName_ResearchNote”.
• Deadline: All entries must be submitted by the specified date and time. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Oral Rounds

The top 10 teams will be shortlisted for the Online Oral Rounds based on their written submissions.

To register for the competition, participants must first pay the registration fee and then complete the Google Form given below this post. The payment must be made to the following account:

• Rs 100 for individual participants
• Rs 150 for a team of two and
• Rs 200 for a team of three

After the payment is made, participants must fill out the registration form available through the provided Google Form.

• First Place: Rs. 6000
• Second Place: Rs. 4000
• Third Place: Rs. 2000
• The top-performing teams will receive an exclusive internship opportunity
• Certificates of Merit will be awarded to top performers
• Certificates of Participation will be given to all participants
• Trophies and Medals will be awarded to the top three participants
