About JLEL

The NLIU Journal on Labour and Employment Laws (JLEL) is a blind peer-reviewed annual journal dedicated to advancing understanding and dialogue in the field of labour and employment laws. It seeks to contribute to the development of fair and equitable labour frameworks by examining the intersection of academic scholarship with the practical realities of labour legislation.

Submission Categories

The submission can be made under any of the following categories:

  • Articles (4,000 to 10,000 words)
  • Essays and Short Articles (2,000 to 4,000 words)
  • Case Comment (2,500 to 5,000 words)
  • Book Review (1,500 to 3,000 words)
  • Legislative Comment (2,000 to 4,000 words)

Submission Guidelines

Submissions are expected to be original work of the author and meet high academic standards. The following guidelines must be followed:

Editorial Requirements

  • Abstract: All original submissions must be accompanied by an abstract of 250-300 words (exclusive of the word limit) included within the document of the manuscript.
  • Co-authorship: Permitted for up to 2 authors in Articles, Essays, and Short Articles. Not allowed for Case Comments, Book Reviews, and Legislative Comments.
  • Format: MS Word (.doc or .docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Body Text: Size 12, 1.5 line spacing, justified alignment
  • Footnotes: Size 10, single spacing (1.15 line spacing), justified alignment
  • Title and Subtitles: Size 12, centrally aligned
  • Automatic spacing between paragraphs
  • The Journal uses footnotes only (not endnotes) as the method of citation.
  • Citations must conform to the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA, 4th Edition)
  • Non-compliance may lead to disqualification
