Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) is a statutory body created by an act of Parliament under Commission For Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005, to act as monitoring authority for effective implementation of child rights in the state.The Commission is responsible for:

  • Examining complaints of violation of child rights;
  • Running public campaign, training and workshops to raise awareness and capacity on the themes of sexual safety, right to education, nutrition, disability and child labour;
  • Undertaking or commissioning research studies on various themes of child rights;
  • Examining bills/policies/regulations/laws/budget from child rights perspective and make recommendations to the government;
  • The officers posted in the Commission are called Members. It is Principal Secretary, Government of Delhi equivalent post (Note: Principal Secretary is the highest ranking officer in any department. Example: The officer who the Directors of school education, technical education and higher education reports to is called Principal Secretary). The interns report to and work closely with the Members.

The Commission is offering internship opportunities to work on the following projects:

Grievance redressal: Addressing grievances pertaining to child rights {especially Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (RTE)} and finding solutions ranging from directing appropriate authority to take action to conducting inspections or researches. It will give a hands on experience of policy monitoring and implementation at the systemic level. Research: Undertaking research on issues related to RTE and other aspects of education (such as Early Childhood Care and Education) and suggesting policy changes. A few examples of live projects are Impact Assessment of Mission Buniyaad, Research Study on Teacher’s Time Allocation (in and out of school), etc. School evaluation survey: Data Analysis and project management, communication and coordination for the exercise being undertaken by DCPCR for the first time to evaluate all 5820 Schools of Delhi based on three factors a) Safety and Security, b) Teaching and Learning, and c) Community participation. The purpose of the exercise is to reward the exemplar Schools and highlight gaps for better execution of the RTE. It is a good opportunity to work at the systemic level in close association with the grassroots and has a visible impact and scope for learning.

Knowledge and Technical Skills

  • Background in law/data analysis preferred but not mandatory;
  • Excellent research and drafting skills;
  • Demonstrated interest/experience in Human Rights/Education/Data Analysis
