Apex Court refused to make Secretaty, Min. of Sports as a Member.

Today Supreme Court of India appointed former CAG Vinod Rai as Head of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Along with him noted historian Ramachandra Guha, former Indian cricketer Diana Edulji and IDFC official Vikram Limaye were also made Panel Members.

While making these appointments SC in its hearing declined Centre’s request to appoint Secretary of Sports Ministry as the Member of the committee.

This plea was declined by SC by refering to its earlier judgement whereby it had debarred Ministers and Govt Servants from holding any office in BCCI.

Other than this SC also finalised named Amitabh Chaudhary, Anirudh Chaudhary of BCCI and Vikram Limaye so that they can represent BCCI at the ICC meeting scheduled to be held in the first week of February.

In its January 24 hearing, the apex court had rejected all nine names submitted by the (BCCI) counsel.

Senior lawyer Kapil Sabil was given permission to provide suggestions for an interim panel to run BCCI.
