Prime Minister urged to uphold Rule of Law and Constitution by making such Ministers resign.
On Tuesday, Congress demanded the resignation of Union Minister Uma Bharati, who has been charged with criminal conspiracy by a special CBI court in Lucknow in Babri Masjid demolition case along with the BJP leaders including L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi.
Asking the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to uphold law and Constitution, Opposition Party hoped that the 25 years after the demolition of the structure, justice would be done and guilty would be punished.
AICC spokesman said, “One of accused, Uma Bharati, is a Union Cabinet minister. Having been chargesheeted, she must resign. Prime Minister must come forward and uphold Rule of law and Constitution.”
Demand for sacking of Bharati came on day CBI Court framed charges under the Section 120B (criminal conspiracy),Indian Penal Code against Advani, Joshi and the nine others in the Babri Demolition case.
Statement issued said that on December 8, 2011, Supreme Court had ordered that the hearing be held on day-to-day basis but since 2013, 185 adjournments had taken place in the case. “It’s time for the law of the land to deliver justice expeditiously,” he added.
Congress hoped that the trial would now begin.
Spokesperson added that,”Those who are guilty must be punished in accordance with law of the land without any fear or favour”.
