PM Modi mourns Marshal Arjan Singh’s demise, hero of 1965 India – Pakistan War

1965 India-Pakistan War hero was promoted to the five-star rank of Marshal of the Air Force in 2002.

PM Narendra Modi on Saturday mourned death of the Marshal Arjan Singh and stated that India will never forget his excellent leadership in 1965 India-Pakistan war when IAF saw substantial action.

PM Modi tweeted,”India mourns unfortunate demise of the Marshal of Indian Air Force Arjan Singh. We remember his outstanding service to the nation”.

He further added that determined focus of Singh, who was promoted to five-star rank of the Marshal of Air Force in 2002, on capacity building in IAF added great strength to the India’s Defence capabilities.

PM said that,”Sometime back I met him, who despite his ill health tried to get up to salute even though I said no. Such was his soldier discipline”.
