G.S.R. 699(E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 87 of the Punjab Reorganization Act, 1966 (31 of 1966), the Central Government hereby extends to the Union Territory of Chandigarh, the East Punjab War Awards (Amendment) Act, 2006 (15 of 2006), as in force in the State of Punjab on the date of publication of this notification, subject to the following modifications, namely :-

1. Modifications.

In Section 1,-

(a) in sub-section (1), for the words, brackets and figure "the East Punjab War Awards (Amendment) Act, 2006", the words brackets and figures "the East Punjab War Awards (Amendment) Act, 2006, as extended to the Union Territory of Chandigarh" shall be substituted;

(b) for sub-section (2), the following sub-section shall be substituted namely :-

"(2) It shall come into force at once".
